A 25 year old police recruit has died while undergoing treatment at the Administration Police Training College (APTC) A-Campus in Embakasi, Nairobi.
The incident according to sources is now under investigation by detectives.
He succumbed on the morning of January 18, after being admitted at the college health centre with worsening medical complications.
His death was reported to Embakasi Police Station at about 12.30pm by the college’s Chief Instructor, Emmanuel Busenei.
According to police records,the victim first sought medical attention on January 15, complaining of chest pain, dizziness, cough and fatigue.
Medical examination established that he was suffering from a lower respiratory tract infection.
He was treated and later discharged.
However, on January 17 at around 7.00pm, the recruit returned to the health facility with new symptoms, including prolonged vomiting, general body weakness and inability to eat.
He was admitted for observation under the care of the duty medic.
Tragically, at about 7.00am the following morning, the deceased became unresponsive and was pronounced dead by the health centre in charge.
Police officers from Embakasi, including senior commanders and detectives, rushed to the scene.
Crime Scene Investigators processed the area before the body, which had no visible injuries, was moved to Chiromo Mortuary pending a post-mortem examination.
