Police Seize 122kg of Cannabis Worth Sh3.6 Million in Busia

Police in Busia County have intercepted a major consignment of suspected narcotics following a targeted operation.

According to police,officers from Nasewa Patrol Base conducted a crackdown on narcotic drugs in Lung’a Village, located within Nasewa Location yesterday.

During the operation, the officers recovered three and a half sacks of suspected cannabis sativa at a homestead belonging to a deceased individual identified as Wanga.

However, the current occupant of the house, only known by the alias “Ivy,” managed to flee upon noticing the approaching officers and remains at large.

The seized drugs were transported to Busia Police Station, where they were weighed and found to total 122 kilograms, with an estimated street value of Sh 3,660,000.

Authorities have launched investigations into the incident, with detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Busia leading the probe as efforts to track down the suspect intensify.

According to police,the operation underscores ongoing efforts by security agencies to dismantle drug trafficking networks in the region.
