A shooting incident along Kangundo Road near Powerstar Supermarket in Joska has left a 24 year old man dead, with police arresting a retired police officer in connection with the killing.
According to a report filed at KBC Police Station in Matungulu Sub-County early today,the incident was reported shortly after midnight on February 2, 2026.
A witness, identified as Gasper Emmanuel Mowo, alerted police after allegedly seeing the shooting occur near the busy shopping area.

Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) visited the scene and established that the victim, Joseph Chege Wanjiru aged 24 years, had been shot at close range.
The bullet entered through the left side of his lower waist and exited on the right.
He was rushed to Bahati Hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment.
Investigations revealed that the suspected shooter fled from the scene to his residence near Joska Police Station.
Police later established that the suspect is a retired police officer and a licensed firearm holder.
He was identified as former Chief Inspector Francis Bundi Wilson.
The firearm recovered from the suspect is a Ceska pistol loaded with 11 rounds of ammunition.
He was arrested and is currently detained at KBC Police Station as investigations continue under the supervision of the Sub-County Criminal Investigations Officer (SCCIO) Matungulu.
The body of the deceased has been moved to Patjud Funeral Home pending postmortem examination.
