Police in Ganze,Kilifi county have launched investigations into a rape incident involving a 24 year old Safaricom brand ambassador.
The Ambassador representing one of the counties in Northcoast was attacked while on duty in Beria area, Jaribuni.
According to a report filed at Ganze Police Station yesterday,the victim a resident of Kilifi Msufini area, was assaulted yesterday in the afternoon.
Police say the victim was approached at Beria Centre by an unknown man who requested registration of a new Safaricom line, claiming he had left his national identity card at home.
As she proceeded to Mtepeni area to attend to another customer, the same man followed her on a motorcycle.
Upon stopping to assist him, the suspect allegedly attacked her, strangled her, and dragged her into a nearby bush where he raped her.
The victim raised alarm but no one responded.
After the incident, the suspect fled the scene on his motorcycle.
The victim was unable to note the motorcycle’s registration number but stated that she can physically identify the attacker.
Officers from Jaribuni Police Post visited the scene and commenced investigations to identify and trace the suspect.
Police in the area have launched investigations and urged members of the public with information that may assist in arresting the suspect to report to the nearest police station.
