Senior DCI officer loses walkie talkie

A Senior DCI officer has reported the theft of his official mobile phone (walkie talkie) after giving a lift to two strangers along the Daystar–Athi River road in Machakos County.

According to a report filed at Athi River Police Station today,the complainant, George Momanyi attached to the DCI Dagoretti,Nairobi stated that the incident occurred yesterday at around 5:45 pm.

Momanyi reported that while driving from his residence along the Daystar–Athi River Road he was flagged down by an elderly man who was accompanied by a child dressed in a school uniform.

The pair requested a lift to Devki Stage, claiming they were travelling to Machakos.

Momanyi obliged and offered them a ride before dropping them at Devki Stage.

He then continued with his journey to Lang’ata.
However, upon returning to his residence later and while removing personal belongings from his vehicle, he realized that his official police handset had been stolen.

He suspects that the two individuals he had assisted with the lift could have stolen the handset during the journey.

DCI Athi River are handling the probe.
