Former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko is considering shutting down his lavish entertainment establishment, Volume VIP Club in Mombasa, marking a significant turning point in both his personal life and business interests.

In a candid statement seen by DNK-International, Sonko revealed that his decision is deeply rooted in a personal transformation that has seen him abandon alcohol and embrace a more faith driven lifestyle.

As part of this shift, he announced plans to either sell, lease, or completely dispose of the club’s alcohol stock, signaling a possible full exit from the high end nightlife scene.

Volume VIP Club, located in the coastal city of Mombasa, is widely regarded as one of the most luxurious entertainment spots in the region.

The multi-million shilling establishment is famed for its opulent interior design, featuring imported furnishings, ambient mood lighting, and state of the art sound and lighting systems that rival international nightlife standards.

The club boasts multiple VIP sections, each designed with exclusivity and comfort in mind, including private lounges, executive meeting rooms, and high end whisky and champagne bars.

It also features themed party rooms, a spacious dance floor, premium DJ booths, and secure access points for high-profile guests seeking privacy.

Its decor blends modern elegance with a coastal flair, offering a unique nightlife experience that has attracted celebrities, business elites, and tourists alike.

At its peak, the club reportedly generated between Sh10 million and Sh30 million every weekend, making it one of the most profitable entertainment ventures linked to the former governor.

However, despite its earning potential, the club has remained inactive for some time now as Sonko reflects on his next move.

Sources close to the former governor indicate that even with the club’s closure, all employees have continued to receive their salaries a move seen as both unusual and generous in the hospitality industry.

This has sparked conversation about Sonko’s commitment to the welfare of his staff even as he considers winding down operations.

The potential closure of Volume VIP Club would mark the end of an era for one of Mombasa’s most iconic nightlife destinations.

For Sonko, however, it appears to be the beginning of a new chapter, one defined less by luxury and entertainment, and more by personal conviction and spiritual growth.

Whether he ultimately sells, leases, or fully shuts down the club, the decision underscores a dramatic shift in priorities for the outspoken former county boss, whose life continues to draw public attention both in and out of politics.

However, some of his followers have pleaded with him to reconsider the decision and perhaps give the business to an immediate family member to run.

Some followers have proposed that he sells everything and donate the proceeds to a charity.
