Suspect in Custody Gives Leads to Unravel Mulwanda Crime

Police in Khwisero,Kakamega have said that a suspect has given them with leads to unravel the surging crime in Mulwanda and its environs.

Yesterday (Saturday) police recovered goods valued at Sh 20,000 believed to have been stolen during a series of shop breaking at the trading centre last year.

According to a report filed at Mulwanda Police Post, the recovery followed a targeted intelligence led operation conducted by the Sub County Criminal Investigations (SCCIO) team, officers from Khwisero Police Station, and the NGAO team.

The raid was carried out at a homestead in Emutsatsa Sublocation, Emwaniro, approximately four kilometres from  Mulwanda trading centre.

During the operation, officers searched a house belonging to Nelvin Shiraku, aged  20 years.

Assorted items suspected to be stolen were recovered.

The recovered goods were identified as property belonging to Salome Nandwa, a shop owner at Emwaniro Centre.

Items recovered included a green military style rucksack, a mattress, assorted foodstuffs such as milk, tea leaves, biscuits, baking flour, maize flour, sugar, rice, cooking oil, bar soaps, and six eggs.

Police investigations established that the items matched goods earlier reported missing from  Nandwa’s shop.

Notably, the shop had not been forcibly broken into, with investigators indicating it was accessed using a master key, raising suspicion of inside knowledge or coordinated theft.

The suspect is currently in police custody and is assisting officers with further investigations to establish possible links to other break-ins within the area, identify accomplices, and recover more stolen property.

Members of the public who gathered as police processed the scene were advised to remain vigilant and promptly report any suspicious activities to security agencies.

The area MP Christopher Wangaya Aseka “Aseka Miradi” has commended the officers for the continued efforts they are doing to apprehend criminals harassing people in the area.

He warned  that all criminals in the area will be arrested and face the law in court.
