A cloud of grief has settled in Garissa after a 15 month old toddler lost her life in a tragic fall from a third floor residential building within the town on Sunday night.
According to a report filed at Garissa Police Station, the incident occurred at around 10:00pm in the Windsor area.
The matter was reported by a neighbour,Jael Ouma, who said the child, identified as Maryann Aubriel Atieno, had been left in the care of a caretaker at the time of the incident.
Police said the toddler reportedly fell from the rooftop of the building to the ground, sustaining serious injuries.
She was rushed to Alliance Hospital, where doctors pronounced her dead on arrival.
Officers visited and processed the scene before transferring the body, which had visible physical injuries, to the Garissa County Referral Hospital Mortuary, where it is being preserved pending a postmortem examination.
