Police in Busia have arrested two suspects and recovered a large consignment of banned polythene bags following an intelligence led operation in Matayos.
According to policeb at Busia Police Station, officers from Matayos Police Post acted on information from members of the public and apprehended the two at Matayos Location, Busia Sub-County.
Police officers from Busia Police Station, in the company of detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations, rushed to the scene where they recovered seven bales of prohibited polythene bags, totaling 140,000 pieces of unknown value.
The scene was documented, and the recovered items were escorted to Busia Police Station and secured as exhibits.
During the booking process,a lady suspect alleged that she had been sexually assaulted through gang rape prior to the arrest.
Police escorted her to hospital for medical examination as investigations commenced.
