Two Men Arrested in Kisumu and Nandi as Police Rescue Minors from Defilement and Early Marriage

Police in Seme Kisumu County and Tinderet, Nandi County have launched investigations into two separate cases of defilement and child exploitation after minors were rescued from suspected perpetrators.

In Kopingo Village, Seme, officers from Ratta Police Station arrested a 45 year-old man after he was found cohabiting with a 16 year old girl.

According to police reports, the incident was reported on March 13, 2026 at about 7:00 a.m. by Seme Sub-County Children Officer Mildred Kimonge.

Police officers who responded to the report proceeded to the village where they arrested the suspect identified as Nicholas Oginga.

Authorities also rescued the girl a juvenile who had allegedly been living with the suspect as his wife for about one week.

Both the suspect and the victim were escorted to Kombewa County Hospital where medical examinations were conducted and P3 forms filled as part of the investigation process.

The suspect is expected to be arraigned before the Principal Magistrate’s Court in Kombewa on March 16, 2026.

In a separate incident reported at Songhor Police Station in Tinderet Sub-County, Nandi County, a Grade 9 student was rescued after allegedly being defiled by a man known to her as Kiptanui.

The case was reported on March 13, 2026 by Antony Metto, 54, and Collins Kiplagat, 27, in the company of a juvenile.

They stated that the minor had been missing since March 7, 2026.
Investigations revealed that the suspect allegedly confined the girl aged 15 in his house near Kamalambu Shopping Centre and kept her under threats.

On March 13, the victim reportedly managed to escape when the suspect allowed her outside briefly to bask in the sun.

Members of the public rescued the girl and rushed her to Meteitei Sub-County Hospital where she received medical treatment before being discharged in stable condition.

Police say efforts are ongoing to trace and arrest the suspect.

Authorities have reiterated their commitment to protecting minors and urged members of the public to report cases of child abuse and early marriages promptly to law enforcement agencies.
