Two Suspected Beachline Gang Members Arrested in Intelligence-Led Diani Operation

Two suspected members of a criminal gang believed to have been terrorising residents and visitors along the Diani beach line were arrested today morning following an intelligence led police operation in Ukunda Township, Kwale County.

Police said a team of officers drawn from Diani Police Station mounted a targeted operation along the beach line within Diani area in a bid to flush out criminal elements who have for some time been preying on unsuspecting members of the public.

Acting on a tip-off, the officers cornered and arrested the suspects at Tanduri area while they were allegedly armed with crude weapons.

The suspects were identified as Kennedy Hassan, aged 29, and Brian Mwangi Karanja, aged 24. Both are believed to be part of a gang linked to a series of criminal activities along the beach line targeting residents and beach users.

The two are currently in lawful police custody at Diani Police Station, where they are undergoing profiling and further investigations before being arraigned in court.

Police indicated that the case is pending booking and remains under handling by officers from Diani Police Station as part of ongoing efforts by security agencies to enhance safety and curb criminal activities in the coastal tourism hub.
