Two Suspects Arrested After Stolen Motorcycle Traced to Uganda

Police in Busia County have arrested two suspects linked to a robbery with violence incident after recovering a mobile phone believed to belong to one of the attackers.

According to a police follow up report from Bumala Police Station dated March 5, 2026, officers revisited the scene of the robbery together with members of the public while pursuing leads on the case earlier reported on March 3.

During the operation, officers recovered a mobile phone belonging to one of the suspects identified as Dancan Omondi alias Dante, which later helped investigators track down the suspects with the support of detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).
Police subsequently arrested Dancan Omondi alias Dante, 18, from Suwo Village in Matayos Sub-County, and Ian Oluoch, 19, from Sigulu Village in Butula Sub-County.

During interrogation, the two suspects reportedly confessed to attacking and robbing the victim of his motorcycle.

They further told investigators that they committed the crime together with another accomplice identified as Ochieng, who remains at large.

Police said the suspects rode the stolen motorcycle to Uganda, where they sold it for KSh30,000 to a man identified only as Mr. Papa, receiving a down payment of Sh15,000.

The suspects were arrested at their respective parents’ homes within the Bumala area and booked at Bumala Police Station.

They are currently in police custody awaiting arraignment in court, while investigations continue and efforts to trace the remaining suspect and recover the stolen motorcycle are ongoing.
