A shocking assault incident has been reported in Kisumu Ndogo area, Malindi,Kilifi County after a woman was attacked and seriously injured by an unknown assailant during the early hours of Sunday morning.
According to a report filed at Malindi Police Station,the victim reported that the incident occurred at about 3:00 a.m. while she was walking from her home in Kisumu Ndogo to visit her boyfriend in the Coast Boys area.
Police say that upon reaching Kwa Chocha area, the woman was confronted by a young man armed with a panga.
The suspect allegedly demanded that she engage in sexual activity with him.
When she refused, the attacker cut off her right hand at the wrist before fleeing the scene.
Officers from Malindi Police Station responded to the incident and visited the scene, where they recovered the severed hand.
The recovered piece has since been preserved at Malindi Sub-County Hospital mortuary.
The victim was rushed to the same hospital where she is currently receiving medical treatment.
Crime Scene Investigation (CSI) personnel processed the scene and launched investigations as police intensify efforts to identify and arrest the suspect who remains at large.
Police have urged members of the public with any information that may help trace the attacker to report to the nearest police station.
