A seemingly provocative remark about not having a wife turned fatal in Kimilili, Bungoma County after a 37 year old man died from head injuries sustained during a confrontation at a farm where he had been working.
Police reports indicate that the deceased, James Shinda, was attacked on at a farm in Matore Village on March 10 after a disagreement with a fellow laborer, Daniel Maranga, who allegedly told him he had no family.
The exchange escalated into violence, with the suspect reportedly striking Shinda on the head using a jembe.
Shinda was initially rushed to Nirock Hospital in Kamukuywa in critical condition before being transferred to Phineal Hospital on March 16, 2026, after his condition worsened.
He later succumbed to the injuries on March 19, 2026, at around 4:00 PM.
His body has been moved to Delight Funeral Home, where it awaits a postmortem examination.
Police have launched a manhunt for the suspect, who remains at large, as investigations into the incident continue.
