Young Herder Electrocuted by Exposed Power Cable Near Katani, Rushed to Hospital

A 21 year-old herder is receiving urgent medical treatment after suffering an electrocution incident near Katani area, close to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport.

According to a police report filed at JKIA Police Station yesterday the incident occurred at around 4:00pm.

The victim, identified as Paul Mosolva Tingisha from Maasai community was grazing goats in the Katani area when he stopped to rest.

Unaware of the danger, he reportedly sat on an exposed live electric wire and was electrocuted.

A fellow herder who was with him at the time found him struggling and immediately intervened, rescuing him from the scene.

The friend alerted the victim’s family, who rushed him to JKIA Port Health for emergency treatment.

Police officers later visited the facility and confirmed that the patient had sustained visible burns on his left hand and ribs.

He was reported to be in serious but responsive condition and remains under medical care, awaiting referral to another hospital for specialized treatment.

Officers from the Kenya Airports Police Unit have indicated that the scene will be visited to establish the exact location of the incident and assess the circumstances that led to the presence of the exposed live wire.
