A group of 40 Chinese nationals deported from Uganda transited through JKIA on Tuesday under heightened security before boarding a flight to China.
The group, comprising 39 men and one woman, arrived from Entebbe aboard Kenya Airways at 3.43am while under the escort of Ugandan police officers.
According to police, the deportees were temporarily accommodated at the Prohibited Immigrants Holding Area at Terminal 1A as they awaited formal handover to a Chinese escort team.
The Chinese officials arrived later aboard China Southern Airlines which landed at 6.03am, after which the handover process was completed without any complications.
The deportees were scheduled to depart for Guangzhou, China, aboard China Southern Airlines Flight CZ634 at 1.15pm.
Police confirmed that the transit operation was conducted smoothly and no security incidents were reported throughout the process.
