Former Cabinet Secretary Raphael Tuju has appeared before a Kibera Law Court Nairobi and denied charges of allegedly giving false information to a person employed in the public service.
Tuju’s appearance came after Senior Principal Magistrate Stella Atambo summoned him to court for plea taking in a case arising from his recent disappearance that had sparked public concern and legal action seeking to compel security agencies to account for his whereabouts.
He is charged with giving false information to a person employed in the public service, contrary to Section 129(a) of the Penal Code.
According to the charge sheet, on March 21, 2026, at Entim Sidai Spa and Wellness Sanctuary in Karen within Lang’ata,Nairobi, Tuju allegedly informed a police officer attached to Karen Police Station that he had been trailed by unknown assailants and subsequently abducted.
Prosecutors claim the information was false and that Tuju knew it was untrue at the time, intending for it to be acted upon by the officer.
When the charge was read out in court, Tuju denied the allegations and pleaded not guilty.
Through his lawyer, Tuju requested to be released on bond, arguing that the offence he is facing is a misdemeanor and that he has a long history of public service to the country.
