BIBLE VERSE OF THE DAY:Matthew 26:41

By Pastor Vincent Roy Agoya

“Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.— Matthew 26:41

We often think of temptation as a sudden, massive wave, but more often it is a slow leak. In the Garden of Gethsemane, the disciples didn’t mean to fail Jesus; they were simply exhausted. Their hearts wanted to stay awake, but their bodies gave out.

Jesus’ response is a practical strategy for our daily battles: watch and pray.

Watching is about self-awareness. It means recognizing your triggers—like fatigue, stress, or isolation—before you reach a breaking point. Praying is about swapping your limited willpower for God’s limitless strength. When you feel your resolve slipping, don’t try to double down on human effort. Pause and connect to the power source.

Set a “guard your heart” alarm on your phone for midday today. When it goes off, take 60 seconds to check in on your stress levels and offer a quick prayer for patience and focus to finish the day strong.
