DNK International Ugandan President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni on Wednesday began a two-day working visit to Tanzania at the invitation of President Samia Suluhu Hassan, with the two leaders expected to hold talks aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation across key sectors.
The visit seeks to deepen Uganda–Tanzania relations in trade, energy, infrastructure, security, tourism, and regional integration, while advancing the implementation of major joint projects and existing bilateral agreements.
During the visit, Presidents Museveni and Samia are expected to review progress on strategic initiatives, including the East African Crude Oil Pipeline (EACOP), a flagship regional energy project expected to stimulate economic growth, attract investment, and enhance energy security in the region.
The two Heads of State will also witness the signing of several Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) aimed at strengthening economic cooperation, expanding cross-border partnerships, and promoting shared prosperity between the two neighbouring East African nations.
The visit underscores the longstanding diplomatic and economic ties between Uganda and Tanzania, as both countries continue to collaborate on regional development initiatives under the framework of the East African Community (EAC).
