Six worshippers were injured on Saturday after a perimeter wall belonging to Sper Break Hotel collapsed onto a church during heavy rainfall in Kitale, Trans Nzoia County.
The incident occurred at around 3:45 p.m. at Rama Messianic Fellowship Church while congregants were attending a fellowship service.
According to police, the collapsing wall injured Florence Chege, who sustained chest, hand and head injuries; Joy Blessing, who suffered chest, hand and leg injuries; Denis Okiri Kodi and Caleb Amani, who both sustained right leg injuries; Abigael Favour, who injured her left leg; and Serah Amani, who suffered a right leg injury.
The injured worshippers were rushed to Dr. Michuki Hospital for treatment.
Five were treated and discharged in fair condition, while Joy Blessing remained admitted for further medical care.
The collapse also caused extensive damage to church property, including 25 plastic chairs valued at Sh37,500, a tent worth Sh800,000 and electrical wiring valued at Sh25,000.
Police officers visited and documented the scene as investigations into the incident continue.
