Saboti MP Caleb Amisi has steadily emerged as one of the most outspoken young legislators, building a reputation for fearless political commentary, independent thinking and a willingness to challenge both allies and opponents.
His latest political move,launching a new political outfit,People’sRenaissance Movement party after distancing himself from the Linda Mwananchi brigade led by Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna.
The development has once again thrust him into the national spotlight ahead of the 2027 General Election.
Amisi says his decision to establish a new political movement was driven by his belief that the original objectives of the Linda Mwananchi movement had been abandoned.
While maintaining that he was among the founders of the people centred initiative, he argues that it gradually drifted from its founding vision of championing credible, reform minded leadership.
According to him, the new outfit seeks to revive those ideals by bringing together principled leaders capable of transforming Kenya’s politics beyond personalities and ethnic alliances.
Although he publicly criticised the direction the movement had taken, Amisi later clarified that he had not abandoned Linda Mwananchi altogether, insisting that he still considers himself one of its founders and that his intention is to preserve its independence rather than see it absorbed into broader political coalitions.
Born in 1986, the youthful legislator attended Sabatia Primary School before earning admission to the prestigious Starehe Boys’ Centre.
His admission to Starehe Boys as he revealed to DNK-International came through the institution’s competitive selection process, which identifies academically gifted but financially disadvantaged students from across Kenya.
He later joined the University of Nairobi, where he studied Bachelor of Commerce.
His political journey culminated in 2017 when he won the Saboti parliamentary seat on an ODM ticket, defeating seasoned politicians and instantly becoming one of the youngest MPs in the National Assembly.
He successfully defended the seat in the 2022 General Election, cementing his place as one of Trans Nzoia County’s influential political figures.
Amisi has often stated that his decision to seek public office was inspired by his desire to fight corruption, improve governance and ensure that young people have a greater voice in national leadership.
Throughout his political career, he has credited his upbringing, education and interactions with reform minded leaders for shaping his political philosophy, while also drawing motivation from ordinary Kenyans demanding accountable leadership.
In Parliament, Amisi has served in key departmental committees, including Defence and Foreign Relations and Labour and Social Welfare, where he has participated in legislative oversight and national policy debates.
His outspoken nature has earned him admiration among many young Kenyans who see him as an independent voice willing to challenge the political establishment regardless of party affiliation.
His journey has, however, not been without challenges.
His candid remarks have frequently generated political controversy, attracted criticism from senior leaders and occasionally placed him at odds with a section of ODM party members,the party that he used to vie on.
Despite these hurdles, he has remained active on national issues, often using social media and public forums to engage citizens on governance, economic reforms and youth empowerment.
With the 2027 elections drawing closer, Amisi has indicated that his new political platform will focus on identifying and supporting competent, credible and visionary leaders across the country rather than merely advancing youthful candidates because of their age.
He believes Kenya requires leaders with integrity, courage and practical solutions to the country’s economic and governance challenges.
For many aspiring leaders, Amisi’s rise from a village primary school to Starehe Boys, the University of Nairobi and eventually Parliament serves as an illustration that determination, education and persistence can open doors to national leadership.
Whether his new political movement reshapes Kenya’s political landscape remains to be seen, but his growing influence suggests he will remain one of the country’s key political voices in the run-up to the 2027 General Election.
