A suspected receiver of stolen laptops and computer accessories has been arrested following an operation by detectives from Central Police Station in Nairobi.
The operation was conducted at Jawabai Building along Taveta Road in the city’s Central Business District, where officers raided a shop on the first floor.
During the search, police recovered seven laptops, 29 hard disks and several computer accessories believed to be linked to stolen electronic equipment.
The suspect, identified as Silvano Mwihia, alias “Ngishi”, was arrested at the scene and taken to Central Police Station for processing.
According to police, preliminary investigations indicate that the suspect allegedly disguised himself as a clothes vendor operating from the building’s ground floor while allegedly receiving stolen laptops and dealing in computer accessories from the first floor shop.
All recovered exhibits have been secured at the police exhibit store as investigations continue to establish the ownership of the recovered items and identify those involved in the suspected theft and disposal network.
The suspect remains in police custody pending further investigations and possible prosecution.
