Four foreign missions challenge Manor Hotel skyscraper in court

By Johnson Njenga,Milimani Court.

Four foreign missions have raised objections to the construction of a high rise building near their premises, citing environmental concerns and obstruction, but the project was not stopped.

Lawyer Harrison Kinyanjui, representing Nairobi City County, raised the matter in court on Monday during a hearing involving the owner of Manor Hotel, who had reportedly undertaken to construct a residential hotel but instead proceeded to put up a skyscraper.

The US, Morocco and Botswana embassies, alongside the United Nations are among the missions that objected to the development, citing its potential environmental impact and obstruction.

The case, before Justice Oscar Angote, is scheduled to continue tomorrow Tuesday.
