Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) supporters in Busia County have come out strongly to defend Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna in his role as the party’s Secretary General, urging calm and unity as the party prepares for the next general elections.
Speaking during a vox pop interview in Busia town, residents said ODM needs tranquility and internal cohesion to remain strong and competitive nationally.
They described Senator Sifuna as a steady hand who has helped articulate the party’s position and energize its grassroots support.

“Senator Sifuna is good for the party, just as Governor Dr Paul Otuoma is good for Busia County,” said one resident. “Both represent leadership that is firm, focused, and committed to service.”
The supporters also expressed unwavering backing for Busia Governor Dr Paul Otuoma, crediting his administration with maintaining stability and pushing forward development projects across the county.
They warned against political actions that could disrupt governance or derail ongoing county activities.
“We will not encourage anyone to destabilize county activities,” another resident said.
“Politics should not interfere with development or peace in Busia.”
The sentiments come amid heightened political activity within ODM, as party leaders and supporters emphasize unity ahead of future electoral contests.
Residents interviewed stressed that internal wrangles would only weaken the party’s prospects and distract leaders from addressing the needs of wananchi.
As ODM charts its path toward the next elections, Busia supporters say their message is clear: unity within the party and stability in county leadership must remain a priority.
