By Our Correspondent,Marsabit.

A police officer attached to Forolle Police Station in Marsabit North was found dead in an incident reported today morning.

According to police his colleague reported hearing a gunshot at around 6:00 a.m. while officers were hoisting the flag at the station.

Together with another officer, he proceeded to the deceased officer’s house within the station compound, where repeated attempts to get a response were unsuccessful.

The officers alerted the Deputy Officer Commanding Station (D/OCS), who joined them at the scene.

Upon entry, the officer was found lying on the floor.

Preliminary findings indicate the officer died after sustaining a self inflicted gunshot injury.

Senior officers from Kenya Police Service, including the Sub-County Police Commander (SCPC) and the Sub-County Criminal Investigations Officer (SCCIO) for Marsabit North, visited and processed the scene alongside Scene of Crime personnel.

Investigators recovered a note at the scene, with early indications suggesting family related challenges may have contributed to the incident.

However, police say investigations are ongoing to establish the full circumstances.

The body was moved to Marsabit County Referral Hospital mortuary, where a post-mortem examination will be conducted.
