Gangsters rob woman of Sh1.7 Million after bank withdrawal in Kiminini

A woman and her friend were robbed of Sh1.7 million in cash shortly after withdrawing the money from two banks in Kitale town,Trans Nzoia County.

Police said Carolyn Jemutai and her friend, Julious Langat, were heading home on Thursday afternoon after Jemutai withdrew the money from KCB and DTB banks.

According to the report, the two were intercepted at Village-In area within Sirende Ward while travelling in their Toyota Fielder, registration number KDB 077X.

The gangsters, who were travelling in another silver Toyota Fielder, registration number KDE 280Z confronted the pair, with one of them pointing a gun at Langat before hitting him on the head with a metal rod.

The attackers fled with Sh1.7 million in cash, two mobile phones,a Tecno Camon 40 and Tecno Camon 49,three ATM cards and Jemutai’s identification card.

Langat sustained a head injury during the attack.
Police have launched investigations to identify and arrest the suspects.

The case is being handled by Kiminini DCI officers.
