NAESI women caucus mobilises 150 leaders for peace ahead of 2027 polls

More than 150 women leaders from across Kenya have joined the National Elections Support Initiative (NAESI) Women Caucus to promote peace, women’s participation and development ahead of the 2027 General Election.

The caucus brings together grassroots, religious, professional, business, youth, pastoralist and community women leaders, as well as women with disabilities, widows, single mothers and political leaders.

Its key roles include the Mama Amani peace campaign, early warning and response, protection of women and children from electoral violence,Sexually Gender Based Violence (SGBV), civic and voter education, mediation, advocacy for women’s inclusion, economic empowerment and interfaith prayers for peace.

The caucus will have eight regional and 47 county coordinators, with two women peace monitors in every ward.

Members will meet on Tuesday, October 6, 2026, at Nyayo House to elect interim leaders, approve an action plan and plan the women’s peace programme.

NAESI National Coordinator Stephen Kipchumba Cheboi said women are central to sustainable peace and development.

“Without women, there is no peace. Without peace, there is no Kenya,” Cheboi said.
