Sonko accuse Uhuru Kenyatta as he defends himself in graft case

Former president Uhuru Kenyatta on Monday came under scatting attack for allegedly causing the impeachment of former Nairobi county Governor Mike Sonko.

Sonko told trial magistrate Isabella Barasa, that Uhuru caused his prosecution before the anti corruption court over charges he was not involved in.

He testified in his defence that Uhuru allegedly bribed members of the Senate who adopted his impeachment motion by the county assembly.

He said, the graft charges before the court were framed up by the Ethics and anti corruption commission (EACC).

Sonko informed the court that the former first family had business interest within the county.

He went on to testify that he had declined an order to demolish some structures within the county to pave way for the construction of the highway.

He said, several county functions were transfered to national government under Kenyatta’s administration.

The functions included ; transport, health and county revenue.

Sonko while being read in his evidence by his lawyer Assah Nyakundi, said his tenure as a Governor was cut short by being impeached.

The hearing continues tomorrow September 29.
