A woman is recovering in hospital after she was allegedly attacked with a panga by a man known to her family in Kuria East, Migori County.
The incident was reported at Ntimaru Police Station on Thursday morning.
According to police, the victim, identified as Berita Gati Maroa, was assaulted at Mutiniti Village in Makararangwe Location by a suspect identified as Samuel Logero Chacha.
Police said the suspect hacked the woman, leaving her with injuries to the head, hands and legs before fleeing the scene.
The victim was rushed to Better Care Health Centre, where she received treatment and was admitted in stable condition.
The complainants, Valentine Bonce and Emmanuel Maroa, who are relatives of the victim, also reported that the suspect threatened them during the incident.
Officers from Ntimaru Police Station and detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) in Kuria East visited and processed the scene as investigations commenced.
Police said the suspect escaped the police dragnet and remains at large.
