The long standing rivalry between Congolese music stars Koffi Olomide and Mbilia Bel reportedly played out behind the scenes during their Saturday performance in Kenya during the 50th anniversary of veteran broadcaster Fred Obachi Machoka career anniversary.

The tensions according to our tipster stemmed from the running order which threatened to disrupt the show.
According to accounts from people familiar with the events backstage, Mbilia Bel was scheduled to perform at 8.35pm, followed by Koffi Olomide at 10.30pm.

However, delays in Mbilia Bel’s programme reportedly forced organisers to adjust the schedule.
By 10.30pm, both artistes were said to be ready to take the stage.

Organisers reportedly asked Mbilia Bel to allow Koffi to perform first to help manage time, but she declined.
The situation allegedly escalated when Mbilia Bel’s team pushed to have her perform, making it difficult for organisers to control the situation.
Organisers reportedly suggested that she leave without performing and assured her that she would still be paid.
Mbilia Bel, however, stood her ground and eventually performed, a move that has been interpreted by some observers as a demonstration of her determination.
Meanwhile, Koffi Olomide and his partner, Cindy, were reportedly unhappy with the unfolding events and are said to have declined to cooperate with organisers on several matters.
The tensions were said to have spilled onto the stage during an encounter between Machokaand Olomide,Machoka had reportedly wanted Koffi to dance and cut an anniversary cake with him.
Their interaction resulted in a confrontation that attracted attention from the audience.
The accounts have not been independently verified, and the artistes and organisers were not immediately available for a comment.
