Residents of Busia County have raised alarm over deteriorating services at the local Kenya Power office, accusing staff and management of inefficiency, delays, and alleged malpractice.
Frustrated customers say they are subjected to long waiting hours, with some claiming they arrive as early as 8:00 a.m. only to remain unattended to for extended periods without communication from officials.
“People have been waiting here from 8am, no word from the manager on what’s going on. People are tired,” lamented one disgruntled customer in a message shared earlier today.
The residents further allege that the office staff report late to work, delay reconnections, and in some cases disconnect power irregularly without prompt restoration, disrupting both businesses and households.
Concerns have also emerged over alleged corruption within the office, with locals calling for urgent intervention from the company’s headquarters to restore order and improve service delivery.
Efforts to get a response from the Busia office management were unsuccessful by the time of publication, but pressure continues to mount on the utility provider to address the grievances and rebuild public trust.
