A Milimani Court magistrate has ordered TikToker Joseph Gitonga Kianya, alias Gitonga Archives, to undergo a mental assessment at Kenyatta National Hospital.
The directive was issued on Monday after Gitonga appeared in court following his arrest for allegedly jumping bail in a Sh500,000 alleged extortion case.
A warrant of arrest had been issued against him on October 1 after he failed to comply with his bail requirements.
Gitonga was charged last year with allegedly demanding Sh500,000 from Amos Mwangi, a media service provider linked to Cooperative Bank of Kenya, while threatening to tarnish the bank’s reputation on social media platforms.
The court is expected to rely on the mental assessment to determine his mental status as the case proceeds.
