Police in Ugunja, Siaya County, are investigating a suspected murder incident after a body of an unidentified man was discovered dumped along the Busia–Kisumu Highway.
Members of the public alerted police at Ugunja police station yesterday night after spotting two individuals abandoning a body near the Savannah area.
Responding officers rushed to the scene and apprehended two male suspects, Joseph Omondi, and Calisto Oyugi.
Oyugi is believed to be the owner of the vehicle used in the incident.
The suspects were initially taken to Ambira Level 4 Hospital for treatment before being discharged and placed in police custody.
The body of the deceased was found lying in a pool of blood with visible head injuries, indicating possible blunt force trauma.
A white Toyota Vitz, registration number KCB 949N, believed to have been used by the assailants, was recovered at the scene and towed to the police station as part of the investigation.
The body has since been moved to Ambira Level 4 Hospital mortuary, where it awaits identification and a post mortem examination.
