Police in Tiriki East,Vihiga County have launched investigations into a night attack in which a 21 year old student at Kaimosi National Polytechnic was assaulted and raped by an unknown man.
Officers at Cheptulu Police Station received a report in the wee hours of today from a colleague of the victim.
She stated that the victim was attacked at around 11:30 p.m. yesterday while washing utensils outside her residence in Musasa Village.
The assailant, who was armed with a panga, reportedly ambushed the victim before dragging her by the neck into a nearby bush approximately 200 meters from her house, where the attack occurred.
Police officers from Cheptulu Police Station responded swiftly to the scene.
The victim was later rushed to Vihiga Referral Hospital, where she is receiving treatment for physical injuries sustained on her hands and face.
Police said that they are pursuing leads to identify and apprehend the suspect and have urged residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious individuals or activities as investigations continue.
