Tension is mounting in Kasarini, Kiambu County after a group of unidentified individuals allegedly invaded a 248 acre parcel of land hosting the renowned Paradise Lost and Paradise Gardens, sparking fears of an attempted land grab.

The disputed property belongs to the family of the late Mbugua Mwangi, under Ndunde Investment, and is jointly owned by his three sons,Daniel Mwangi, Isaac Gichia Mbugua, and Joseph Mbai Mbugua alongside their late mother, Christine Mithiri Mbugua.

According to the family, the invaders stormed the land on Saturday and began subdividing it without consent, raising alarm over what they describe as a well orchestrated scheme to dispossess them of their ancestral home.

The land has reportedly been in the family for decades and holds deep emotional significance, with both parents buried on the same property,Mbugua Mwangi having passed on December 14, 2008, and Christine Mbugua on April 6, 2017.

“This iconic Paradise Lost is a place that has hosted Kenyans drawn by a love for adventure. The grabbers forcibly want to demarcate the property and evict us without consent,” said one of the family members.

The family insists they possess the original title deed and maintain clean ownership records at the Ministry of Lands.

However, they allege that the individuals behind the attempted takeover appear to have the backing of powerful figures, though no names have been disclosed.

Fear has gripped the household, with claims that a lorry carrying suspected goons was driven onto the property to intimidate residents and assert control.

As the standoff escalates, concerns are growing that Paradise Lost, long celebrated as a natural and recreational haven could become a symbol of land injustice.

The family is now warning members of the public against falling prey to any purported land sale deals linked to the property, maintaining that the land is not on the market as the dispute unfolds.

Investigations into the incident are yet to be formally confirmed by police.
