“All inhabitants of the earth will worship the beast—all whose names have not been written in the Lamb’s book of life, the Lamb who was slain from the creation of the world.”
— Revelation 13:8
Revelation 13:8 presents a sobering contrast between worldly devotion and eternal security. In a landscape of rising chaos and competing loyalties, this verse points us to a profound truth: the Lamb was “slain from the creation of the world.” Before sin ever entered the garden, God’s plan for redemption was already in motion. His love isn’t a reaction to our failure; it is the foundation of our existence.
The “Book of Life” serves as a reminder that our identity is not defined by the shifting shadows of culture or the pressures of the “beast”—the systems of this world that demand our worship. Instead, our names are etched in the permanent record of grace through the sacrifice of Christ. While the world may feel increasingly unstable, the believer’s position is anchored in a victory that was decided before time began.
We do not have to fear the future when we belong to the One who holds the beginning and the end.
Audit your “worship” this week. Identify what is currently competing for your ultimate devotion—is it career success, social approval, or digital influence? Intentionally spend 15 minutes today in silent prayer, re-centering your heart on the Lamb and thanking Him for the security of your name being written in His book.
