Police in Sotik bust into 250 bags of subsidy fertilizer stock

Police officers in Sotik,Bomet county today morning recovered 250 bags of vernment subsidized fertilizer that had been repackaged for illegal distribution.

In a report filed at Ndanai Police Station,it was indicated that officers acting on intelligence report conducted an operation at the home of a suspect identified as Shadrack in Bambanik village.

During the raid, officers discovered the fertilizer loaded onto a Mitsubishi lorry registration number KBZ 442S.

Additionally, approximately 200 empty bags branded with National Cereals and Produce Board (NCPB) markings,commonly used for government-subsidized fertilizer were recovered from a nearby store.

Police suspect the bags were being used to repackage the fertilizer for illicit resale.

They also recovered sewing machines believed to have been used in sealing the repackaged bags.

The origin of the fertilizer has not yet been established, and the lorry driver is still at large.

Officers have secured the scene and are continuing with investigations as they await further instructions.

The OCS Ndanai has confirmed that efforts to trace the suspects and establish the full extent of the operation are ongoing.
