Fire razes police staff quarters in Loyangalani

A fire incident has destroyed a police staff housing structure at Loyangalani Police Station in Loyangalani,Marsabit county.

The incident left several officers counting losses after their personal belongings were reduced to ashes.

According to a police report, the incident occurred at around 4:30pm yesterday.

The affected structure, which housed six officers, was completely razed by the fast spreading fire.

Preliminary findings indicate that the blaze started when some officers were preparing tea outside the house using firewood.

Strong winds are said to have fanned the flames, causing the fire to quickly spread to the nearby wooden structure.

Several items, including officers’ kits and household belongings, were destroyed in the inferno.

No injuries were reported and the value of the property lost has not yet been established.
