An attack has been reported in Bondo,Siaya County today morning after a woman was allegedly ambushed and gang raped by two armed men.
According to a report booked at Bondo Police Station,the woman XXX said the incident occurred at about 5:00am.
She had boarded a boda boda from Bondo town heading towards Rubis Petrol Station along the Bondo–Usenge road.
At a point approximately two kilometres north of the station, their motorcycle was intercepted by another boda boda carrying two unknown men armed with pangas.
The attackers reportedly forced her off her ride and dragged her onto their motorbike before speeding off to a nearby thicket in Nyawita village, about 500 metres off the main road.
Inside the thicket, the victim reported that the assailants raped her in turns.
During her attempts to resist, she sustained a minor cut on her left hand.
The suspects did not steal any of her belongings.
After the attackers fled, the victim managed to reach out to friends who responded and took her to safety before escorting her to Bondo Police Station where the report was formally recorded.
She has since been referred to Bondo Sub-County Hospital for medical attention as investigations continue.
Police have launched a manhunt for the suspects, who remain at large.
The case is under investigation, with officers at Bondo Police Station leading efforts to trace and apprehend thos responsible.
