Orengo presides over swearing in of Siaya County Executives in governance revamp

Siaya Governor James Orengo has today presided over the swearing-in ceremony of newly appointed County Executive Committee Members and Members of the County Public Service Board at the Siaya County Government headquarters.

The ceremony, conducted by Principal Magistrate Lily Nafula with the assistance of Acting County Attorney Leonard Okanda.

According to Orengo,this marks a significant step in the restructuring and strengthening of the county administration.

Those sworn into office as County Executive Committee Members included Joseph Rading Otieno for Governance, Administration and ICT; Willis Okoth Ochieng for Agriculture, Irrigation, Food, Livestock and Fisheries; Christine Jenifer Akinyi for Trade, Cooperatives and Industrialization; Ochogo Nicholas Kut for Tourism, Culture, Sports and Arts; Adhola Augustine Neto for Lands, Physical Planning, Housing and Urban Development; and Erick Z. Abungu Odawa.

Also sworn in were members of the County Public Service Board including Ambassador Frost Josiah, Rose Achieng, Lawrence Odero and Oscar Ochieng,Emma Velma Maumo was also officially sworn in as the County Attorney, a move expected to accelerate the implementation of the administration’s strategic development agenda.

Governor Orengo further congratulated newly appointed Chief Officers including Nyagudi Wilfred for Tourism, Culture, Sports and Arts; Okelo Walter Ochieng for Governance and Administration; Onyango Maurine Awuor for ICT and Public Transformation; Mboha Joseph Oloo for Lands, Physical Planning, Housing and Urban Development; and Okelo Jared Abayo for Environment, Climate Change and Natural Resources.

He noted that the swearing-in of the Chief Officers would take place at a later date.

The Governor emphasized that the ceremony was a constitutional requirement aimed at validating the officers’ assumption of office following vetting and approval by the Siaya County Assembly.

He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to reforms and service delivery for the people of Siaya County.

“We have achieved a lot for our people, and with impetus and energy from these new teams we shall do more,” Governor Orengo said, expressing confidence in the county’s future amid the ongoing national political discourse.

Siaya County Assembly Speaker George Okode echoed the Governor’s sentiments, urging the newly sworn-in officials to uphold integrity, remain faithful in their duties and serve the people diligently.
Others present during the occasion included County Public Service Board Chairman Eng. Collins Juma, Members of the County Assembly, clergy, members of the business community, county executive staff and officials from the County Assembly.
