An incident has been reported in Machakos County after a Daystar University student lost his life while swimming in a nearby dam.
According to police at Daystar Police Post in Athi River, the incident was reported yesterday night by Frederick Mulandi, a resident of the Daystar area, after he received information from his farm manager that a person had drowned.
Police officers, including the orderly officer, duty officer and DCI personnel, visited the scene and established that the deceased, identified as Branice Odhiambi Okwei, a 25 year old fourth-year student at Daystar University, had allegedly removed his clothes and attempted to swim in a nearby dam at around 6pm before drowning.
Divers later retrieved the body from the dam and it was moved to Shalom Community Hospital Mortuary awaiting autopsy.
