DNK International A 25 year old man is in police custody after allegedly attempting to rape a 75 year old woman in Kathangathini Village, Kaeva Location, Kathiani Machakos County.
In a police report recorded at Kathalani Police Post on Friday evening,the incident occurred the same day at about 11:00am.
The victim, identified as RPQ reported that she had just woken up and opened her door when the suspect, James Nzuli Kioko, allegedly forced his way into her house and pushed her back into the room, causing her to fall to the floor.
Police said the suspect allegedly advanced towards the elderly woman, attempted to force her onto a bed, and began removing her clothing in an attempt to sexually assault her.
The victim screamed for help, attracting the attention of neighbours who responded quickly and managed to arrest the suspect before the alleged attack could be completed.
Kioko was later escorted to Kaviani Level 3 Hospital for medical examination and treatment.
The suspect was arrested and remains in police custody pending his arraignment in court on Tuesday, June 2.
