Tension remains high in Nanyuki today as protests against the proposed Ebola quarantine facility escalated, with residents now camping outside the Nanyuki Air Base in a dramatic show of defiance.
The protesters are opposing the reported establishment of an Ebola quarantine facility in the area, which they claim is being advanced despite court orders allegedly blocking the implementation of a disputed agreement linked to the government and foreign partners.

Chanting and waving placards, the crowd demanded transparency, legal compliance, and immediate cancellation of what they termed a “high-risk project.”
“We cannot accept something like this being imposed on us without our consent,” one resident said, as others sang protest songs late into the day.
Security officers were seen maintaining a cautious distance, monitoring the situation as movement in and out of the area remained restricted. No major clashes had been reported by press time.
