DNK International A 27 year old woman from Kahawa Estate in Chuka township has reported a burglary and suspected rape incident after waking up in her house today morning to discover that household items and cash had been stolen under unclear circumstances.
In a report she recorded at Chuka Police Station today morning,the victim, identified PPP stated that she retired to bed at about 2:00 a.m. after locking her rental house.
She was dressed in a T-shirt and shorts at the time.
The woman told police that she woke up at around 6:30 a.m. and found herself naked, with her clothes lying beside the bed.
On checking the sitting room, she discovered that several items were missing, including a 43-inch TCL television valued at Sh35,000, an Amtec sound bar valued at Sh13,500, and a handbag containing Sh35,000 in cash.
Police officers from Chuka Police Station, accompanied by Crime Scene Investigation (CSI) personnel from Tharaka Nithi County, visited and processed the scene.
Preliminary investigations established that entry into the house was gained through the back door, which had not been locked.
Investigators are seeking to establish how the victim was allegedly stripped and sexually assaulted without becoming aware of the incident until she woke up in the morning.
The circumstances surrounding the suspected rape remain unclear and are a key focus of ongoing investigations.
The victim was escorted to Chuka Referral Hospital for medical examination and treatment, while forensic and investigative processes continue.
Police have classified the matter as a burglary and rape case and have launched investigations to identify and apprehend those responsible.
