A murder investigation has been launched after a 48 year old woman was found fatally stabbed along the Joska–Kamulu road in Athi River,Machakos County.
According to a report recorded at Joska Police Station yesterday,the incident was reported by Bahati Hospital Director Vincent Michira, who informed police that a female patient with multiple stab wounds had been brought to the facility by motorcycle riders acting as Good Samaritans.
The woman was pronounced dead upon arrival.
Police officers led by the Deputy OCS rushed to the hospital and established that the victim had been discovered earlier at around 7:45 p.m. lying beside the road near the Joska–Kamulu Bridge.
A member of the public, Emmanuel Lemisi, told investigators that he was travelling from Joska towards Kamulu when he found the injured woman and assisted in taking her to the hospital.
The deceased was later identified by relatives as Agnes Mutheu, a resident of the area.
Preliminary examinations revealed that she had sustained multiple stab wounds on the neck, back, hands and buttocks.
Investigators also noted that the victim’s undergarment had been cut, raising suspicions of an attempted sexual assault before the fatal attack.
Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Joska processed and documented the crime scene.
The body remained at Bahati Hospital pending transfer to Patjud Mortuary for preservation and a post-mortem examination.
Police have classified the case as murder and have launched investigations to identify and apprehend those responsible.
