Busia gubernatorial aspirant Engineer Vincent Esyepet Sidai has urged residents of Busia County not to re-elect Governor Paul Otuoma in 2027.
He said that Otuoma had poor leadership skills which had led the County to lag behind and retard in development projects.
Speaking during the burial of village elder Mzee Clement Oporoji, 84, at Aleles Village in Amagoro Location, Teso North Sub-County, Sidai called on residents to strategize and unite ahead of the 2027 General Election to ensure a change of leadership at the county level.
“Let us strategize in order to capture the seat. If we remain united as residents of Busia, we shall fulfil our dream,” Sidai told mourners.
He criticized what he termed as efforts by pro-government politicians to rally support for Governor Otuoma, alleging that the county administration had failed to effectively utilize county resources for the benefit of residents.
“We should reject leaders who hide behind the broad-based government arrangement to seek re-election while county resources remain frozen and development stalls,” he said.
Sidai declared himself the best candidate to unseat the incumbent, saying he possesses the credentials and leadership qualities needed to transform the county.
“I am Otuoma’s medicine. I have the credentials that will make you happy. God has prepared the way for me to serve you better,” he said.
There was drama when aspiring Malaba Central MCA Frank Wangula publicly confronted his former boss and incumbent MCA Ronald Ochalu, accusing him of failing to deliver on key promises made to residents.
Wangula, who previously served as a ward manager under Ochalu, criticized the state of infrastructure in Aleles, saying roads in the area remain impassable despite promises made during the last election campaign.
“The roads in Aleles are in a pathetic state despite pre-election pledges. The Aleles Dispensary has stalled for four years even after allocating Shs 4 million by the county government, while residents continue to draw water from River Malakisi. There is a need to properly vet leaders before electing them,” Wangula said.
