Police in Kitui County have stepped up security preparations ahead of the planned nation wide five day memorial marking the 2024 Gen Z demonstrations.
Yesterday officers were briefed on operational strategies aimed at maintaining law and order.

According to a security briefing conducted by Kitui County Police Commander Martha Ngetich a number of police officers and those from the county inspectorate department attended the meeting held at Kitui Police Station.
During the briefing, officers were directed to identify potential demonstration hotspots, remove obstacles previously used during protests, enhance intelligence gathering, and inspect vehicles at roadblocks.
They were also reminded of the lawful circumstances under which firearms may be used, urged to work as coordinated teams, and instructed to secure vital installations, including police stations and other critical infrastructure.
The commander further directed officers to dominate key areas early to ensure effective response to any emerging security concerns during the memorial period.
