Jeremiah confronted Hananiah, a prophet who spoke comforting words that God had not spoken. The people preferred Hananiah’s message because it promised quick relief and peace. Yet God sent Jeremiah to expose the lie and call the people back to truth.
This passage reminds us that not every appealing message is from God. In a world filled with many voices, believers must test everything against God’s Word. Truth may sometimes challenge us, correct us, or require patience, but it always leads to life and freedom. Lies may bring temporary comfort, but they eventually produce disappointment and bondage.
Ask God for discernment to recognize His voice above all others. Let His Word be the standard by which you judge every teaching, prophecy, and counsel you receive. The Lord is faithful to guide those who sincerely seek Him.
Today, spend time in Scripture and prayer. Ask the Holy Spirit to sharpen your discernment and help you walk in God’s truth, no matter how difficult or unpopular it may be.
