Former Dockworkers Union (DWU) official Paul Abisa has sent a passionate appeal to Nyali legislator Mohamed Ali known as Jicho Pevu to lodge an official complaint with the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) if he is not satisfied with the manner in which a road expansion tender was awarded by the Kenya Ports Authority (KPA).
The Sh 8 billion tender award was for the expansion of a road to ease congestion at the port.
He told him to follow the laid down procedures in lodging a complaint instead of a blank condemnation of the authority.
“The recent outbursts and allegations by the lawmaker over the tender awarded for the expansion of the 800 meter road were reckless and baseless,” he pointed out.
Abisa said the allegations are meant to undermine local investor confidence in national institutions.
He was reacting to Jicho Pevu’s allegations that the process was not open and transparent during media briefing held at Uhuru Gardens in Mombasa county.
The former DWU official told off the lawmaker and reminded him that cases of corruption are handled by relevant government authorities and not through social media.
Abisa, who was flanked by local businessman David Malii and Persons With Disability (PWA) coast region chairman Julius Nzioki, said by the look of things the legislator is using the platform to advance his gubernatorial ambitions to unseat incumbent Abdulswamad Shariff Nassir in the 2027 general election.
