Police have arrested one suspect after a group of rowdy youths attacked the convoy of the Principal Secretary for Youth Affairs and Creative Economy, Jacob Fikirini, in Nairobi, stealing mobile phones and damaging an official government vehicle.
According to a police incident report recorded at Pangani Police Station, the incident occurred at about 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday after the Principal Secretary and his team left Kariokor Social Hall in Kamukunji Sub-County, where they had attended a youth sensitization meeting.

Police said a crowd of about 100 youths surrounded the PS official vehicle demanding money.
As the driver attempted to leave the area, some of the youths allegedly opened the vehicle’s doors and stole two mobile phones belonging to police officers attached to the Principal Secretary’s security detail.
A Nokia phone valued at Sh37,000 belonging to Police Constable Rashid Charo was stolen, while another Nokia phone valued at Sh2,000 belonging to Police Constable Peter Menza was also taken.
During the chaos, the attackers allegedly smashed the vehicle’s rear windscreen with stones.

Security officers assigned to the Principal Secretary fired warning shots into the air to disperse the crowd as the vehicle sped away.
Officers on patrol from Pangani Police Station responded to the commotion, dispersed the crowd and ensured the Principal Secretary was safely escorted to his residence.
Police arrested one suspect, identified as Bob Moses Ogweno, who is expected to be charged.
Investigations into the incident are ongoing, with detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) in Starehe handling the case.
